Auckland Harbour Ferry Building 1935

 Before the Auckland Harbour Bridge was opened on 30 May 1969, passengers and vehicles crossed the harbour on a large fleet of steam-powered vessels.

Above we see the paddle steamer "Albatross" in the foreground, then L to R - "Ngairo", "Peregrine", "Condor", "Eaglehawk" (vehicular ferry), "?" (obscured), "Makora", "Albatross",  & "Takapuna".
