Farmers Building

 In the olden days (ie last century) families from the  North Shore made special trips to the iconic Farmers Building in the CBD.

Here was an enormous department store complete with a sophisticated tea-rooms as well as awonderful playground for children.

Farmers held an extravagant Christmas parade every year. Below is the gigantic model of Father Christmas on the corner of the Farmers building:

 

This artwork was later installed in Queen Street on the Whitcoulls Building, but after the PC brigade thought that they could see evil intent in the figure, it was removed.
